41. Sandwich Art
Food can be art too. Aren’t these not only beautiful but also look delicious? Our kid gobbled them up. Get your kid to participate in food prep.
42. Mini Puzzle
When your toddler amazes you with a completed new puzzle. She did ask for help but I was in the middle of cooking and she ended up completing it by herself! It’s true what they say, you should try not to jump in immediately (unless it’s an emergency, of course!)
44. LEGO Duplo Color & Counting
LEGO Duplo is a great way to teach color recognition and simple counting.
45. Pinball Machine
An activity we participated in for kids. Pinball machine made using basic supplies of cardboard boxes, tape, ruler, scissors, noise earbuds, rubber bands, bamboo skewer and ping pong ball.
46. Student Marching Band
Student marching bands are a great way for students to participate in a team-based activity, learn discipline and grow their self-confidence.
47. Flower Art
There is something magical about flowers. We learned different flower names, their colors and smells and then arranged them in a mug.
48. Sushi
We got this sushi from a restaurant but they reminded me that sushi making is a great activity to do with kids.
49. Chinese Lion Dance
If you are lucky enough to have a Chinese lion dance performing close to you, make sure you bring the kids to see it! We caught this one at our local library.
50. Food Play
This was a silly game of trying to balance a Twix on the corner of a milkshake. You can make anything fun if you want to!
51. Fountain
Kids love water and of course, fountains. We found this one outside a shopping mall.
52. Lighting
I have been surprised by the many different varieties of interesting lighting I have found in buildings and I try to point them out to my kid when I do.
53. Japanese Candy
I was introduced to Japanese candy and it’s such a great kid activity! The packets are filled with candy powder. You have to add water and mix them using the suction tube to create a variety of palette colors. Use the shape cutters to create shapes. Then wait for them to harden and eat. They are delicious!
54. Hidden Shapes
I try to notice hidden shapes around us and ask my kid to look for them.
55. Paper Plates & Craft Sticks
Paper plates, craft sticks & glue are great art materials for kids. Challenge them to create something from these materials.
56. Tree Rings
We were lucky to see this at a national park. I explained to my kid that the rings can help people to learn the tree’s age and the climate it grew in.
57. Unique Plants
Who would have thought our neighborhood would have such interesting plants? They looked like gigantic snakes!
58. Wood Carving
My toddler loved playing with this bear wood carving!
59. Gold Panning
Panning for gold takes patience but it teaches kids about perseverance! Explain to your kid that something that looks like boring, hard work can yield huge rewards.
60. Candy Control
It is unavoidable that your kid will be tempted by candy and chocolate in many places around them. We are still dealing with this challenge but we are trying to teach our kid about self-control!
